Pros and Cons of Vonage VoIP
The Vonage ‘Voice Over Internet Protocol’ (VoIP) phone service has a great many advantages over standard telephone services, and it offers a cheaper, more flexible way to make and receive calls for both business and individuals.
Vonage VoIP – The Pros:
-VoIP is very easy to use, and you simply place a call as you would with a standard telephone service, and Vonage will take care of translating the data and transmitting it across the Internet to your destination number.
-VoIP offers a reliable and clear connection anywhere in the world, and as long as you have a high speed cable or DSL Internet provider you should be able to place calls whenever you want without having to worry about bad connections.
-VoIP is usually much cheaper than traditional telephone services as it does not use the Standard Telephone Network and so saves on servicing and maintenance costs. You will receive a special Vonage box, which is easy to install, and this will connect to your computer to route VoIP calls, and is compatible with standard touch-tone phones.
-VoIP offers many additional services such as call waiting, voicemail, caller ID and call forwarding.
Vonage VoIP – The Cons:
- You will need a debit or credit card in order to set up a Vonage account, so unfortunately if you do not have any plastic cards you will not be able to use this service.
- VoIP uses the Internet rather than analog lines, so if you live in an area with no cable or DSL (broadband) coverage then you will not be able to use this service.
- If you have downtime on your Internet due to service maintenance or other issues then you will not be able to make calls until the Internet service is up and running again.
